This kit’s stateside journey started a 1971 dated, OG barrel, PLO kit that was subsequently built on a Nodak spud receiver until it was recently sent in for a full rebuild and refinish per the customer’s request. Some of the original parts had been painted and weathered, while others were left intact. We restored it on a @childersguns (polish blem stamping) receiver, welded over the SF marks and etched Russian markings with Thors hammer stencils. It was fully refinished with @russianpaint. Special care was taken to recreate, not only, the 1970s pattern internally domed rivet features, but also the external rivet head size variance present in the rear trunnion on Soviet, early and late, 1970s era AKM rifles- as can be seen on the example from @ak47catalog on the last slide
